Internship, Industrial AI Platform (m/f/d)

Location
Nuremberg / hybrid / remote by arrangement
Employment
Full time, 3 months
Area
Software engineering, data platform, industrial AI

tensoryze builds a data and AI platform for manufacturing. It connects machines, systems and applications, establishes a common data foundation, and makes concrete things possible on top of it: monitoring, analytics, machine learning and assistance systems on the shop floor itself.

During the internship you spend three months full time working on that platform. You get a topic of your own with a clear beginning and end — not a side project that ends up in a drawer, but something that goes into the product. What it turns out to be, we agree with you beforehand, depending on where your strengths lie.

We are not looking for someone to assist. We are looking for someone who takes a problem, scopes it themselves, and owns the outcome.

What you will do

  • Own a well-scoped topic end to end — a feature for dashboards, monitoring, workflows, or an AI-driven application — and take it all the way into production.
  • Build interfaces, data flows and integrations between the shop floor, IT systems and platform services.
  • Structure and model production data so that applications can use it without asking anyone what a field means.
  • Talk to the people who know the product and the processes: sharpen a problem statement, and present results so that a decision can come out of them.

What to bring

  • A deep understanding of the fundamentals: data structures and algorithms, how systems communicate, design patterns, databases and data modelling. That is what we select on — writing code can be learned, and with AI assistance it is the smaller hurdle anyway.
  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript and SQL.
  • Experience with agentic engineering and AI-assisted development, with Claude Code, Codex or similar: you can scope a problem so an agent can solve it — and you know where a result must not be taken on trust.
  • Delivering results fast: a version that runs today beats a perfect one next week. Without trading care for speed.
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English; German is an advantage, not a requirement.
  • Available for three months full time. We will find the window together.

Nice to have, not required

  • Exposure to industrial protocols or IT/OT topics: OPC UA, MQTT, Sparkplug B, MES or ERP integrations.
  • Experience with CI/CD and with cloud, edge or on-premise deployments.
  • Machine learning, MLOps or LLM application experience that goes beyond prompt tinkering.

What you can expect from us

  • Real industrial problems rather than constructed exercises.
  • A small, focused team with short paths and direct responsibility — there is no layer in between.
  • The option to continue afterwards: as a working student, with a thesis, or permanently, if it suits both sides.

How to apply

Send us a few lines about you, your background and what you like working on — along with your preferred time window and, if there is something to see, a link to code you have written.

No cover letter needed. What interests us is what you have built, and why.
